Born on August 23, 1918 in Peerumedu, Kerala, Meteorologist Anna Mani is known as the ‘Meteorological Lady of India’. He graduated in Physics and Chemistry from Presidency College, Chennai (Madras) in 1939. He has always had a special attachment to Physics. This is the reason that she reached Imperial College, London in 1945 for further studies in this subject.
While studying in London, she became expert in using weather related equipment. After completing her studies and training, she returned to India in 1948. Started his first job with the Meteorological Department. He designed many such instruments that work for forecasting the weather. Not only this, he also wrote many research papers on meteorology and related instruments.
Anna did her B.Sc in Physics and Chemistry from P Pachaiappa College in 1939 and went to Imperial College, London for further studies in 1945. He also published 5 research papers. She returned from London in 1948 and after returning, Anna joined the India Meteorological Department in Pune. There he was given the responsibility of arranging meteorological instruments. Later she also served as the Deputy Director General in the India Meteorological Department and also held several key positions in the United Nations World Meteorological Organization.
